
Derek Larson, MD, FASN
Dr. Derek Larson was born and raised in Chicago and completed his Internal Medicine training at the University of Chicago (NorthShore) where he was awarded Resident of the Year for 3 consecutive years followed by a Chief Resident year at the same institution in which he was granted an academic position at the University of Chicago as a clinician educator. He thereafter completed his fellowship training in Nephrology at Washington University in St. Louis.
Dr. Larson has published numerous peer-reviewed research articles and book chapters relating to chronic kidney disease, anemia, intravenous iron preparations, bone/mineral metabolism and transplant nephrology. In addition to being Board Certified in both Internal Medicine and Nephrology, he is also certified as a Clinical Specialist in Hypertension by the American Society of Hypertension.
In 2015, Dr. Larson earned the designation Fellow of the American Society of Nephrology (FASN) which honors nephrologists who have distinguished themselves through excellence in clinical practice, community outreach, research and professional achievement.
His clinical interests include Hypertension, Nephrolithiasis, Chronic Kidney Disease, Dialysis Home Modalities, and Electrolyte Disturbances.
